To me, family means a lot. "Family" is of course your immediate family and relatives, but also close friends that you could turn to in a time of need. Not all throughout life will you have your parents or siblings by your side, and by having those close friends, they could easily be labeled as family. You can look at a family as one of the sports teams you have played on. Playing with the same kids over and over again, and building friendships, turns into more than just that. You build certain bonds between one another that you could easily have throughout your entire life.
Throughout my 18 years, a lot has happened that overall could define me and make me the person I am today. Playing lots of hockey growing up, staying friends with all of my teammates throughout high school has had a huge impact on me. My parents got divorced when I was in the 7th grade, and of course that plays a huge role on me growing up, looking at other parents that are still together and take into perspective that even when I get married, getting divorced is just as great as not getting divorced. Luckily, divorce isnt an option for me and I could never do that to my kids. Also, another big thing that has helped shaped me, is my father going through kidney cancer. That was a rough time because he had to take a lot of time off work and couldnt really do any physical activity, therefore causing him to quit his mens hockey league, and hasnt skated till this day.
